Johnny’s Fund

Johnny’s Fund was established in 2013 through a generous donation by cancer survivor Betty Kniesche, Johnny Kniesche’s grandmother.  The fund provides financial support for young adults with cancer to incorporate integrative health and wellness services into their treatment plan.

Offered by the Center for Integrative Health & Wellness at Marin General Hospital, these services include psychosocial counseling, nutritional coaching, exercise coaching, acupuncture, therapeutic massage, and Jin Shin Jyutsu.

The Center’s holistic approach focuses on the whole person, weaving integrative therapies into patients’ overall healing plans and empowering them to become partners in their own care.

Anyone under 40 years of age who has been diagnosed with cancer can apply for the fund.

Johnny was just 19 years old when he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic lymphoma in 2004. Over the course of an intensive treatment program at Marin General Hospital, Johnny suffered three relapses, had a bone marrow transplant, and developed complications from graft-versus-host disease. Thanks to the perseverance and expertise of his doctors, Johnny is now healthy and has been in remission since his last treatment in 2010.
